Candidates May Be Nominated in the Following Categories

Hospital Hero Award

Eligible candidates include any employee of an FHA-member hospital or a physician with privileges at a member facility who has performed a heroic act and/or has tirelessly given of his/her time, talent, and expertise to improve his/her organization, patient care, and/or the community. These everyday heroes are the role models for our employees and the public we serve. They are people of integrity and honesty, and often placing others before themselves. Ten finalists will be selected and one will be named the Hero of the Year.

Lifetime Heroic Achievement Award
Each year, FHA will honor one person (an employee of an FHA-member hospital or a physician with admitting privileges to the member facility) that has given a lifetime of service to the hospital community. This hero must have given at least 30 years and made a significant impact in enhancing the operations and patient care of that particular facility. His or her career should exemplify heroic service, compassion, honor, and integrity.

Selection Process
Applications in both categories will be reviewed by a panel of outside judges who will select 10 statewide finalists for the Hospital Hero Award and one recipient of the Lifetime Heroic Achievement Award. Each nomination will be judged on its own merits and based on the judges’ results from these finalists the Hero award winner will be selected. All decisions made by the judges are final.

The finalists and winners will be profiled in the FHALink newsletter and will be posted on the Hospital Heroes Web site at www.hospitalheroes.org. Finalists will also be recognized during an awards dinner at the FHA Annual Meeting in November and the winner will be announced at the annual business meeting.
